Some accessories just make sense. You put them on, get on with your day, and hardly think about them again. A good lanyard should feel exactly like that — with a little more personality.
If you're choosing between a long lanyard and a short lanyard, start with one question: how do you like to carry your keys or access card? Both Grunchy styles have soft, gathered satin and a comfortable, flexible feel, but they sit differently on the body.
The long lanyard: wear it crossbody
The Long Grunchy is approximately 142 cm long and designed to be worn across the body. Instead of hanging straight down from your neck, it sits diagonally over your shoulder.
This is a lovely option if you want your keys close without holding them, or if you often move between a desk, the school corridor, a shop floor and everyday errands. You can reach for your keys while keeping your hands free. Its gathered satin finish also makes the lanyard look more like a considered accessory than standard work equipment.
Choose the Long Grunchy if you:
-
Like wearing your everyday essentials crossbody.
-
Want a longer reach for your keys or card.
-
Prefer a statement accessory that becomes part of your outfit.
The short lanyard: the classic around-the-neck style
The Short Grunchy measures approximately 96 cm and is designed to be worn around the neck, like a traditional lanyard — only softer and more expressive.
It's an easy choice when you want a familiar fit and quick access to a key ring or access card. The shorter silhouette can feel particularly natural with a simple work outfit, a knit or a casual everyday look.
Choose the Short Grunchy if you:
-
Prefer a classic lanyard worn around the neck.
-
Like a shorter, neat silhouette.
-
Want an everyday accessory that is easy to pair with different outfits.
What do both styles have in common?
Both are made from soft, scrunchie-style satin fabric and designed in Finland, with manufacturing in Europe. Their gathered, stretchy structure moves with you. You can also choose an optional safety breakaway clasp, which is incorporated into the lanyard during manufacturing and cannot be added later.
The best choice isn't a universal one. Consider your work environment, preferred way of wearing your lanyard and any workplace rules on jewellery or neck-worn accessories.
Our simplest styling advice
Love the crossbody look? Go long. Want a familiar neck lanyard with a more elevated finish? Go short. Still undecided? Choose the colour you'd most enjoy wearing, then pick the length that fits the way you move.
The finishing touch should feel like you. Explore the Long Grunchy or meet the Short Grunchy.
